Our kids color outside
the lines.
We are film professionals,
parents, and art fanatics. Eager to share the diverse, often amusing
and highly entertaining world of independent cinema with our kids,
we created indiekid films. We honor the artistic excellence of our
movies by producing DVDs of the highest possible technical quality.
Long appreciated abroad,
international children’s film festivals are gaining popularity
in the U.S. Until recently, most kids and families haven’t
had great local festivals or access to these premiere events. Even
if one is fortunate to catch movies at a festival it’s a one
time experience, with next year’s fest featuring a new line
up of outstanding cinema.
Most foreign films, or
works without a product tie-in or recognized actor, are retired
to a shelf at the end of a festival season without distribution
in the U.S. At indiekid, we intend to change that.
We actively seek exceptional
films and film makers who have missed their distribution window.
In bringing the festival experience home, we open doors to other
cultures, reflect on art and engage in a cinematic dialogue with
our families.
Our films are award recipients
from world renowned festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Ottawa,
Athens, Amsterdam, Seoul and Chicago. We present gorgeous film classics
from the golden age of Eastern European puppet cinema to contemporary
animation from Korea and Japan and poignant coming of age stories
from emerging nations forged in moments of political and social
change.
