“intolerance for commercial pap is compelling parents like
Bowman to seek and in some cases organize screenings of independent
film options for their kids. These labors of love are born of
desperation and disappointments…"what we’re doing
here isn’t necessarily of national importance, but at the
same time, what we’re doing is happening all over the country.
There’s a culture demanding a certain level of film."
Shawn Bowman’s
introduction to the film world was through the scrappy and demanding
job of a production assistant in NYC, cutting her teeth on dozens
of features, music videos and commercials. As a location manager
and production coordinator, Bowman worked for prominent directors
Griffin Dunne, Fisher Stephens and Spike Jones on independent feature
film projects.
She has
five years experience teaching production and media literacy to
at-risk kids in film enrichment programs.
For the
last three years Bowman has hosted international film festivals
bringing remarkable world class cinema to young people in her community.
She holds a BFA in film production from the University of Colorado.
Shawn is
the curator for the Lil Longbaugh film festival. To see the line
